Alders Hills is laid out on fertile creek bottom land and benched areas with great South and West slope exposure. The land was first homesteaded by John Dorrel Griffiths in 1915. Bittner Creek. A seasonal drainage borders the South and West boundaries with riparian habitat. On the West boundary is a stand of mature interior forest. Because of the slopes, the South and West exposure is ideal for absorbing the sun's heat allowing grass to start early in the spring and stay strong all summer. A small gully that runs through the middle of the course provides an excellent opportunity to add some spice to your play but still remain playable and entertaining for all skill levels. The final tally of six bridges is somewhat uncommon for par three golf courses.
Rather than using ordinary mats and concrete tee boxes, we built grass tees boxes which give flexibility to the daily fairway yardage. The tee box on number 3 , for example, is 20 yards long. Grass tee box are preferred by experienced golfers. They also accustom newer golfers to the standards of the larger golf courses.
